Farmer ID Card (Agristack): What It Is and How to Get One

The Farmer ID is a new digital identity for Indian farmers, issued under the central Agristack Farmer Registry programme. It links your identity to your land records, Aadhaar, and bank account in one place, and is becoming the standard way to access schemes like PM-KISAN, crop insurance, and Kisan Credit Card loans. This guide covers what it is and how to register, before we go state by state on this blog.

Why the Farmer ID Matters

  • Faster, more direct access to PM-KISAN instalments and other Direct Benefit Transfers
  • Simpler Kisan Credit Card and crop loan applications, since land and identity are already verified
  • One digital ID instead of separate paperwork for each scheme

How to Register

  1. Visit your state’s Agristack Farmer Registry portal (each state runs its own, linked from agristack.gov.in).
  2. Complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC.
  3. Enter your land details – Khasra/Khatauni number or the equivalent land record for your state.
  4. Add your bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer.
  5. E-sign the form using Aadhaar OTP and submit.

If you can’t complete this online, Common Service Centres (CSCs) and Gram Panchayat camps offer assisted registration – an operator handles the process for you.

Documents Required

  • Aadhaar card
  • Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
  • Land ownership record (Khasra/Khatauni, 7/12 extract, or your state’s equivalent)
  • Bank passbook or account details

Switching to a PVC Farmer ID Card

Once your digital Farmer ID is approved, printing it on PVC gives you a wallet-size, waterproof copy to carry – much sturdier than a folded printout for showing at your bank, CSC, or the local agriculture office. Browse our state-wise Farmer ID PVC prints for the option matching your state.
